Emerging Professionals
Emerging Professionals are generally considered to be associate members aspiring towards licensure and those who have been licensed for 10 years or less. The committee is the chapter’s home for licensure-path resources, study support, and scholarships.
Scholarships
ARE Scholarship
Supports Associate AIA members with the costs of completing architectural licensure in California, including study materials and exam fees.
Architecture School Scholarship
Supports community college students transferring into architecture programs and students pursuing a graduate degree in architecture.
Path to licensure
The Architect Registration Examination (ARE®) is administered by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) to assess a candidate’s qualifications for architectural practice. In addition to the ARE, California candidates must pass the California Supplemental Examination (CSE) to demonstrate competency with state-specific requirements. AIA California hosts free ARE/CSE California Study Hub sessions covering the exam divisions; upcoming sessions are listed below.
