    Architectural Kaiju in the South bay

    The Southern California Chapter of the AIA and the Archtiects Association of Long beach joined forces and from the deep surfaced the Long Beach District of AIA Southern California in 1959

    The Cabrillo Chapter

    The Cabrillo Chapter was established, incorporated, and officially chartered as a separate chapter of the AIA — encompassing the portion of Los Angeles County from Long Beach to El Segundo and east to Whittier. The Articles of Incorporation were received by the California Secretary of State on August 11, 1966.

    Long Beach / South Bay Chapter

    Recognizing that a more geographical name would better suit the organization, the Cabrillo Chapter membership voted to change its name to the Long Beach / South Bay Chapter.
