This project has a striking front elevation and successful entry condition. It is difficult to design a house of this size and maintain a sense of scale. Thoughtful consideration was given to the outdoor and interior experience.

This is beautiful. The designers were able to create a variety of intimate spaces in a vast landscape creating happy spaces. Poetic use of water and reflections to bounce light. A great site plan with restraint. This project shows that landscape is just as important as the building.

A nod to early California Modernism, this house embraces outdoor spaces as an extension of the interior with thoughtful detailing and beautiful shading devices, making these exterior “rooms” habitable. Throughout the house there is a relationship to the landscape through views, both far and near.

Jury comments:
A subtle and peaceful piece of architecture in a dense and busy urban environment. Sensitive massing that pulls away from both the adjacent buildings and street front. The minimalist interiors have a pleasant simplicity, generous use of natural light, and a celebrated connection to the exterior. An integrated ground level ADU provides additional complexity and is exemplary in demonstrating responsible urban development.
